Job summary

Greater Wellington invites applications for a permanent Works Supervisor in the Upper Hutt area. You will coordinate and supervise contractors, manage planting and environmental restoration programmes, and ensure deliveries are safe, on time and to high standards across the Wellington region.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication and relationship management skills.

• Confidence working independently, solving problems and making sound operational decisions.
• A full New Zealand driver’s licence.

Job description

We're looking for a Works Supervisor to join our dedicated, fun and friendly Planting Operations team. This permanent role is based in our Upper Hutt office.

About the role:

As a Works Supervisor, you'll play a key role in coordinating and supervising contractors, managing operational programmes, and delivering planting, erosion control and environmental restoration projects across the Wellington region. You'll be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of our Planting Operations' work programmes, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, on time and to a high standard.

Working closely with contractors, landowners, communities and internal teams, you will coordinate resources, oversee field operations, manage health, safety and wellbeing requirements, and ensure programme outcomes are achieved.

Key responsibilities include:

Skills and experience required:

We're looking for someone who enjoys working outdoors, building strong relationships, solving problems and getting things done. You'll be organised, adaptable and confident working with people and contractors to deliver operational programmes.

You’ll ideally bring:

• Experience supervising contractors, crews or operational works programmes.
• Experience in agriculture, forestry, environmental restoration and operations, infrastructure or similar industries.
• Strong planning, organisational and logistical skills, with the ability to prioritise duties and schedules.
• Excellent oral and written communication and relationship management skills.
• A strong team focus and a commitment to health, safety and wellbeing.
• Good computer, spreadsheet and general technology skills, including Microsoft Office.

The following would be advantageous:

• Experience with riparian planting, erosion control or environmental restoration programmes.
• Experience with GIS, GPS or asset management systems.
• ATV/LUV, 4WD, trailers, chainsaw and Growsafe certifications.

The remuneration for this position, inclusive of all benefits, is $73,378 to $110,068 with a midpoint of $91,723. Starting remuneration will depend on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
