Passionate about restoring New Zealand's natural environment and enjoy working outdoors? Treescape, New Zealand's largest Green Asset Management provider, is looking for a Conservation Technician to join our team in Kumeu, Auckland.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of ecological restoration, revegetation, weed control, and environmental enhancement projects across the Auckland region. If you're motivated, physically fit, and take pride in making a visible difference to the environment, we'd love to hear from you.
- Full New Zealand Driver Licence (Class 1)
- Current Growsafe® Certificate or equivalent agrichemical handling qualification
- Experience in agrichemical spraying and weed control operations
- Experience in native tree planting, revegetation, and planting maintenance
- Knowledge of pest plant identification and control methods
- Ability to safely operate spraying equipment, hand tools, and chainsaws
- Physically fit and capable of working outdoors in varying weather conditions and challenging terrain
- Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental best practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Approved Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- First Aid Certificate
- Experience working on ecological restoration, council, infrastructure, or landscaping projects
- Experience using GPS/GIS applications, field data collection systems, or mobile reporting tools
- Class 2 Licence, WTR endorsements, or machinery operating experience
Key Responsibilities
- Agrichemical spraying for weed and pest plant control
- Native tree and shrub planting
- Council and private large-scale planting projects
- Pest plant monitoring and removal
- Plant maintenance, watering, mulching, and aftercare activities
- Recording completed works and reporting field observations
- Adhering to site-specific health and safety requirements and environmental standards
