Job summary

Greater Wellington Regional Council in Wellington is seeking a candidate to join the Rural Activities team to support a diverse range of consenting work and gain exposure across the full resource consent process.

You will provide pre-application advice, process consent applications, monitor compliance and carry out site inspections, and respond to environmental incidents while engaging with landowners, industry, iwi and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification or current study in planning/geography/science
• Knowledge of the RMA desirable but not essential
• Motivated, with common sense and a can-do attitude
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Attention to detail and strong customer service
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities

About the role:

You’ll join the Rural Activities team, supporting a diverse range of consenting work and gaining exposure across the full resource consent process, including:

• providing pre-application advice and guidance on natural resource management
• processing consent applications
• monitoring compliance and carrying out site inspections
• responding to environmental incidents and carrying out associated investigations and enforcement action
• working collaboratively with landowners, industry, iwi, community groups and stakeholders

Skills and experience required:

• A relevant planning, geography, or science qualification (or be studying towards one of these)
• Knowledge of the RMA would also be desirable but not essential for this role
• A highly motivated person with common sense and a can-do attitude
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• An attention to detail and great customer service skills
• The ability to manage multiple projects efficiently, to prioritise competing commitments and proactively manage customer expectations

The total remuneration for this position, including all benefits, is $79,995 to $119,993 per annum, with a midpoint of $99,994. Starting remuneration will depend on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
