Job summary

NZCL is seeking a part-time Support Worker in Wellington to assist rangitahi and their families in living meaningful, self-directed lives. You will engage hands-on in home and community settings, helping families access activities and supports that matter to them.

Key duties include supporting education access, monitoring health and wellbeing, and empowering young people to pursue personal goals. A full driver’s license is essential and the role offers competitive pay and learning opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience working with rangitahi/young people is preferred.
• Understanding of Intellectual Disability and Autism is desirable.
• Full driver’s license and access to a vehicle are essential.
• Desire to support families and empower self-determination.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the family’s journey toward a valued life of their choosing.
• Support rangitahi to attend school and access education when needed.
• Observe health concerns and support wellbeing of the young person.
• Help rangitahi achieve personal goals and build skills.
• Tailor supports to each family's unique needs with a holistic approach.
• Provide simple, flexible supports that the family can use daily.
