Job summary

Qube Ports NZ is seeking a skilled Welder Engineer for our Bluff port operation. You will perform welding, fabrication, maintenance and repairs on heavy machinery, including loaders and terminal tractors, ensuring reliability and safety in daily port activities.

The role is hands-on, Mon-Fri, 7am–4pm with overtime options. A NZQA Level 4 Heavy Fabrication qualification and proven heavy equipment experience are required; you’ll work within a small team to support continuous port operations.

About the Role

We’re looking for a skilledWelder Engineerfor our Bluff port operation. In this hands‑on role, you’ll carry out fabrication, maintenance, and repair work on a wide range of heavy off-road machinery including loaders, material handlers, and terminal tractors.

Location:

Bluff Port

Status:

Full-time, Mon‑Fri working 7am to 4pm

Specific Responsibilities:

• Carry out welding, fabrication, and repairs on heavy machinery and port equipment
• Monitor and replace worn attachments and components
• Provide technical input to improve component quality and longevity
• Maintain a safe work environment and report incidents promptly

Who we're after:

• Relevant NZQA Level 4 trade qualification in Heavy Fabrication [or overseas equivalent]
• Proven experience working on heavy vehicles and machinery.
• Able to work independently and as part of a small team.
• Bring a positive, can-do attitude to the role.
