Job summary

Qube Ports NZ is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair heavy off-road machinery at Marsden Point Port. This 24/7 operation relies on a capable mechanic to keep loaders, material handlers, terminal tractors and forklifts running smoothly.

The role is full-time, with a 4 on, 4 off roster and dayshift 0600–1800. You will work across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults with a strong emphasis on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• NZQA Automotive Heavy Engineering Level 4 or overseas equivalent is required.
• Proven experience working on heavy vehicles and machinery.
• Solid understanding of hydraulic systems.
• Able to work independently and as part of a small team.
• Bring a positive, can-do attitude to the role.

Responsibilities

• Replacing / repairing machinery components.
• Servicing machinery.
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults in heavy loaders, excavators, forklifts & trucks.
• Repairs to attachments, grapples & log heads.

About The Role

We’re seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair a wide range of heavy off‑road machinery, including loaders, material handlers, terminal tractors, and forklifts. As a 24/7 operation, we rely on our mechanical team to keep our stevedoring and logistics equipment running around the clock.

Location: Marsden Point Port

Status: Full-time, 4 on, 4 off roster. Dayshift 0600-1800 hours

Specific Responsibilities:

• Replacing / repairing machinery components
• Servicing machinery
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults in a variety of heavy loaders, excavators, forklifts & trucks
• Repairs to attachments, grapples & log heads
