Job summary

Qube Ports NZ is seeking a skilled Welder Engineer for our Dunedin port operation. In this hands-on role you will fabricate, maintain and repair heavy off-road machinery including loaders, material handlers, and terminal tractors.

You will perform welding and fabrication, monitor wear, and contribute to component quality improvements while maintaining a safe work environment. The role is full-time, Monday–Friday, 7am–4pm, with overtime available.

Qualifications

• NZQA Level 4 trade qualification required.
• Proven experience with heavy vehicles and machinery.
• Independent worker who can also collaborate with a small team.
• Positive, can-do attitude is essential.

Responsibilities

• Weld, fabricate, and repair on heavy machinery and port equipment.
• Monitor wear, replace worn attachments and components.
• Provide input to improve component quality and longevity.

About the Role

Full-time, Mon-Fri working 7am to 4pm

• Carry out welding, fabrication, and repairs on heavy machinery and port equipment
• Monitor and replace worn attachments and components
• Provide technical input to improve component quality and longevity
• Maintain a safe work environment and report incidents promptly

Who we're after:

• Relevant NZQA Level 4 trade qualification in Heavy Fabrication [or overseas equivalent]
• Proven experience working on heavy vehicles and machinery.
• Able to work independently and as part of a small team.
• Bring a positive, can-do attitude to the role.
