Job summary

Whakatāne Community Safety Group is seeking a hands-on Water/Wastewater Treatment Operator to join our team in Whakatāne, NZ. You’ll monitor and operate treatment plants, test water quality, maintain equipment, and troubleshoot issues to ensure water and wastewater meet regulatory standards.

The role includes weekend rosters and after-hours callouts. Ideally you hold a National Certificate in Water or Wastewater Treatment and have knowledge of process control, instrumentation, and sampling.

Qualifications

• Ideally holds National Certificate in Water or Wastewater Treatment.
• Experience operating water or wastewater treatment plants.
• Knowledge of process control and instrumentation.
• Willingness to train and grow in the role.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor treatment plants to ensure compliant water quality.
• Test water quality and sample as required.
• Maintain equipment and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
• Ensure water and wastewater operations meet required standards and regulations.
• Be available for weekend rosters and after-hours callouts.
