Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a certified Water Treatment Plant Operator for our Queenstown facility to ensure safe, reliable drinking water. You will operate and monitor treatment processes, adjust dosing, collect samples, and maintain records to meet regulatory standards.

The role requires a Grade III+ water operator certification and at least 3 years of hands-on experience. You will work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, contributing to critical community infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • Certification as Water Treatment Plant Operator (Grade III or higher)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience operating and maintaining water treatment facilities
  • Strong knowledge of water treatment processes and regulatory requirements
  • Proficient in using monitoring equipment and performing water quality tests

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor water treatment equipment (pumps, filters, disinfection)
  • Collect water samples and perform routine laboratory tests
  • Adjust chemical dosages and treatment processes based on test results
  • Maintain detailed logs and records of operations and maintenance
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on plant equipment
  • Respond to alarms and emergencies and implement corrective actions

About the Role

Our client is seeking a certified and experienced Water Treatment Plant Operator to manage and maintain operations at their facility in Queenstown . This critical role ensures the consistent supply of safe and potable water to the community by operating and monitoring sophisticated treatment processes. You will be responsible for system adjustments, chemical applications, routine testing, and adherence to strict quality and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of water treatment technologies, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a deep commitment to public health and environmental protection, playing a vital role in the community's infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and monitor water treatment equipment, including pumps, filters, clarifiers, and disinfection systems.
  • Collect water samples and perform routine laboratory tests to ensure water quality meets regulatory standards.
  • Adjust chemical dosages and treatment processes as needed based on test results and operational conditions.
  • Maintain detailed operational logs and records, documenting all activities, readings, and maintenance performed.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on plant machinery and equipment to ensure reliability and efficiency.
  • Respond to alarms and emergencies, troubleshoot operational issues, and implement corrective actions promptly.
Requirements
  • Valid Water Treatment Plant Operator certification (e.g., Grade III or higher).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience operating and maintaining water treatment facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of water treatment processes, chemistry, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in using monitoring equipment and performing water quality testing.
  • Ability to interpret operational data and make informed decisions regarding process adjustments.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required for coverage in Queenstown .
