Job summary

Watercare Services Limited is hiring a Process Technician for our Army Bay Wastewater Treatment Plant on Auckland's north. This hands-on role involves monitoring processes, data logging, and short-term maintenance to keep treatment operations safe and efficient.

You’ll work with Process Engineers, participate in improvement initiatives, and may join the on-call roster to respond to alarms, contributing to northern regional treatment plants.

Responsibilities

• Monitor plant processes, conduct inspections and respond to operations to keep running safely and efficiently.
• Collaborate with Process Engineers to identify opportunities for improvement and support projects.
• Undertake minor maintenance, collect samples and perform onsite analysis.
• Record operational data and complete required log sheets and reports.
• Work independently and as part of a team, including on-call roster for after-hours alarms.

We have an opportunity for a Process Technician to join our team based at our Army Bay Wastewater Treatment Plant. This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll play an important part in keeping our wastewater treatment plants operating safely, efficiently and effectively. Working as part of a small, supportive team, you’ll have the opportunity to build your technical capability, work alongside Process Engineers and contribute to improvements across our northern regional treatment plants.

Your day-to-day work will include:

• Monitoring plant processes, carrying out inspections and responding appropriately to keep operations running safely and efficiently
• Working alongside Process Engineers to identify opportunities for improvement and support project activities
• Undertaking minor maintenance, sample collection and onsite analysis
• Recording operational data and completing required log sheets and reports
• Working both independently and as part of the team, including participating in the on-call roster to respond to critical after-hours alarms

You may already have experience in the water or wastewater industry, or you might bring transferable experience from a high-volume, continuous process environment such as dairy, petrochemical or a similar industry. You’ll enjoy practical, hands-on work, be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, and bring a positive approach to solving problems and getting things done.

Ideally, you’ll also bring:

• A National Certificate or Diploma in Wastewater Treatment, or a willingness to work towards a relevant qualification
• A relevant trade qualification or equivalent technical experience, with strong hands-on technical skills
• Confidence using computers and familiarity with process control systems
• A positive, proactive approach with good communication and teamwork skills
• A full driver’s licence and availability to participate in an on-call roster
