Job summary

Watercare NZ in Auckland is seeking a motivated water quality science expert to support our operational teams and partners. You will look after water quality, data systems, and education initiatives to protect public health and the environment.

The role emphasises data-driven decision making, regulatory understanding, and collaboration with communities to ensure safe drinking water for New Zealanders.

Qualifications

  • Teritary degree in science or related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience developing and managing data collection systems.
  • Understanding of drinking water regulation and public health risk management desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver water quality performance goals aligned with customer expectations.
  • Maintain water quality data, systems and programmes.
  • Develop and manage processes for drinking water quality.
  • Engage with education programmes and community engagement on water quality.

Based in Newmarket, this is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual who can provide water quality science - subject matter expertise to our operational teams, other water industry practitioners and our internal partners. The work you will be doing really makes a difference - looking after the environment and helping the community to stay healthy.


In this role you will:


  • Ensure the delivery of Watercare's water quality performance goals and objectives, aligned with our business and customer expectations

  • Maintain water quality data, systems and associated programmes

  • Develop and management of business processes associated with drinking water.

  • Enhance our communities understanding of water quality by providing water quality science expertise, assisting with education programmes and community engagement activities

  • Manage the provisions of water quality metrics to our customers and connected communities


In this role you will bring:


  • Equivalent to a tertiary degree in science, biological science, engineering or related field

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

  • Proven ability to develop data and manage data collection systems

  • Knowledge and experience in business continuance systems and quality systems

  • An understanding of drinking water regulation and public health risk management is desirable
