Job summary

Citycare Water is seeking three Graduate Engineers to help investigate sources of water entering wastewater systems and to support Auckland infrastructure projects.

You’ll work in the field and office, collect environmental data, and contribute to technical reports that improve water management across Auckland. Strong communication and organisational skills, plus a relevant engineering/environmental qualification, are essential.

Qualifications

  • Requires engineering/environmental qualification and preferably NZ industry exposure.
  • Good command of English and strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of field equipment and safety practices is important.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field investigations of stormwater and wastewater networks.
  • Inspect infrastructure to identify faults or infiltration sources.
  • Collect and test water samples (ammonia testing included).
  • Operate CCTV and smoke testing where needed.
  • Record field data using tablets and asset systems.
  • Prepare clear, concise investigation reports.

About the job:

We’re looking for three keen Graduate Engineers to join our team of everyday heroes in Auckland!

You will help identify and investigate sources of water entering wastewater systems where it shouldn’t. This work helps prevent contamination reaching stormwater systems and local beaches.

You’ll work both in the field and in the office, investigating drainage networks, collecting environmental data, and contributing to technical reports that support better infrastructure management across the Auckland region.

This may include:

  • Conduct field investigations of stormwater and wastewater networks
  • Inspect public and private infrastructure to identify faults or infiltration sources
  • Collect and test water samples (including ammonia testing)
  • Operate CCTV inspection cameras and smoke testing equipment
  • Record field data using digital tablets and asset systems
  • Prepare clear and concise investigation reports

What you’ll need:

  • Ideally you will have experience in the civil water and drainage industry in New Zealand.
  • We are looking for someone with a relevant engineering/environmental tertiary qualification, and preferably someone with the relevant industry experience.
  • Excellent English communication skills and be a quick learner.
  • To be a well organised planner of works.
  • You will need to be physically fit, health and safety focused and work well in a team as well as independently.
  • A full class 1 licence and an ability to drive a manual is also essential.

You will need to be available for on call work once every 3rd week. Your work will predominantly be based within the central and western Auckland regions and may occasionally require you to work further afield.

All preferred candidates will be required to complete preemployment checks to the employer’s satisfaction. These checks include but are not limited to, Ministry of Justice criminal conviction report, medical assessment, and drug and alcohol testing.
