Job summary

Tiaki Wai is seeking a Lead Network Compliance professional to strengthen Wellington’s water networks. You will develop and embed compliance frameworks, interpret legislation, and drive a proactive risk-management culture across operational teams, regulators, contractors and councils.

You will oversee drinking water, resource consent obligations, and environmental risk management, with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement and governance across the network.

Qualifications

• A degree in engineering, environmental science, compliance, regulatory management, asset management or equivalent experience.
• A full New Zealand Class 1 driver licence.
• Experience implementing compliance frameworks, governance systems and resource consent requirements.
• Strong knowledge of water services legislation, regulatory obligations, risk management and assurance practices.
• Proven ability to interpret complex legislation, lead investigations and influence outcomes across multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and embed the Network Operations Compliance Framework, policies and operational controls.
• Interpret legislation and lead the implementation of changing regulatory requirements.
• Oversee drinking water compliance, resource consent obligations and environmental risk management.
• Implement risk-based assurance programmes, audits and corrective action plans.
• Advise operational leaders, engage with regulators and drive a proactive compliance culture.
