Job summary

Tiaki Wai seeks a Senior Engineer Network Operations to monitor and optimise three waters networks, delivering safe, reliable service. You will set performance baselines, advise on upgrades and lead during major incidents to ensure rapid, safe service recovery.

Applicants should hold a relevant engineering qualification, NZ Driver’s Licence, and experience with hydraulic systems and SCADA/telemetry. The role is based at the Petone office with flexible working options.

Qualifications

• A relevant tertiary engineering qualification and a full NZ Class 1 Drivers Licence.
• Proven experience monitoring and analysing water, wastewater and stormwater networks or comparable critical infrastructure.
• Strong technical knowledge of hydraulic systems, SCADA / telemetry and control systems.
• Experience developing operational procedures and KPIs to improve consistency and network performance.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Monitor real-time three waters network performance using SCADA, telemetry and operational data.
• Analyse trends, incidents and system data to identify risks, root causes and improvement opportunities.
• Develop and optimise performance monitoring tools, dashboards, reporting frameworks and operational KPIs.
• Advise on network performance, control and monitoring systems, including future upgrades and improvements.
• Lead technical decision-making during significant incidents and support rapid, safe service recovery.
