Job summary

Awa Environmental is seeking a Carpenter for a busy Porirua project on a fixed-term basis. You will contribute to high-quality interior and exterior fit-outs, adhering to NZ building codes and project specs.

Role involves following detailed construction plans, installing framing, ceilings, and finishing carpentry tasks on both commercial and residential sites. Collaboration with supervisors and trades is essential to maintain safety and project timelines.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and work from construction drawings, plans, and specifications to complete assigned carpentry tasks.
• Install and assemble steel stud framing, including setting out, fixing, and bracing to required tolerances.
• Construct and install suspended ceilings, ensuring accurate levels, alignment, and integration with services.
• Fix RAB (rigid air barrier) systems, including cutting, fitting, and sealing to manufacturer and code requirements.
• Carry out gib fixing, including sheet installation, fastening, and preparation for stopping and finishing.
• Perform general carpentry and joinery tasks, including framing, trimming, and fit-off as required on site.
• Use a range of hand and power tools safely and efficiently to complete work to a high standard.
• Collaborate with site supervisors and other trades to sequence work and maintain site safety and cleanliness.

About the Role
