Water Engineer – Hamilton or New Plymouth
Join our national water team as a Water Engineer. The role focuses on investigation, design and implementation of stormwater, water supply, wastewater, transport and multidisciplinary projects.
Responsibilities
- Investigate, design and implement a range of projects involving stormwater, water supply, wastewater, transport and multidisciplinary projects.
- Develop good business relationships with existing and potential clients to ensure required project outcomes are met and maintain high client satisfaction.
- Prepare high‑quality reports, correspondence and other deliverables as required.
- Perform office and site‑based roles, including working with virtual teams across GHD offices nationally and internationally.
- Provide guidance to graduate design engineers on projects and train/mentor them.
Qualifications
- Relevant university degree in Civil Engineering with at least 5+ years of working experience in the related field.
- Knowledge and understanding of industry design standards and guidelines.
- Working knowledge of public and private sectors.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Good computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Design software skills (e.g., 12D, Civil3D, ACAD, GIS).
- Ability to nurture and develop teamwork within the group.
- Organised and capable of multitasking self and others, able to meet deadlines.
- Proactive ownership of projects.
- Self‑motivated and energetic.
- Flexible approach to challenges.
