Job summary

Veolia Australia & New Zealand is seeking a hands-on Wastewater Pump Station Technician to operate, maintain and repair wastewater pump stations and related equipment across networks. The role focuses on safe, compliant operations and customer service.

You will troubleshoot alarms, perform preventative maintenance and assist with installing new equipment, while contributing to a collaborative team and ongoing professional development in a stable, reputable organisation.

Qualifications

• A mechanical and/or electrical trade qualification, or equivalent combination of education, training and industry experience.
• Hands-on experience in maintenance, operations, utilities, infrastructure or a similar environment.
• Exposure to the water, wastewater or process industries is desirable.
• Basic understanding of water infrastructure technologies and processes.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs on wastewater pump stations and associated equipment.
• Maintain pumps, motors, valves, piping, controls and other mechanical and electrical assets.
• Respond to pump station alarms and troubleshoot equipment faults and failures.
• Operate pump stations manually and through computerised control systems.
• Monitor and adjust equipment to maintain appropriate flow levels.
• Collect and record operational information, including pump hours, flow rates and electrical readings.
• Perform basic mechanical and electrical repairs, including lubrication, component replacement and debris removal.
• Maintain accurate maintenance, repair and operational records.
• Assist with the installation of new and replacement pump station equipment.
• Undertake grounds maintenance around pump station sites.
• Manage, supervise and support subcontractors and suppliers to ensure safe, quality and cost-effective delivery of work.
• Participate in an on-call roster for after-hours emergency response.
• Follow all health, safety and environmental procedures, including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements.
