Job summary

Hunter's Wines (NZ) Ltd. in Blenheim, Marlborough, is seeking a practical link between the Viticulturist and the field team. This is a hands-on supervisor role focused on coordinating vineyard tasks, directing machinery operators, and ensuring safety, quality and efficiency across the seasonal programme.

You will lead day-to-day harvest operations, manage staff, and maintain accurate records. A strong mechanical aptitude, driver’s licence, and experience with tractors and sprayers are essential;

Qualifications

• Strong practical experience with vineyard tractors, sprayers and implements.
• Solid mechanical aptitude and fault-finding abilities.
• Calm, clear communication and ability to organise work and support operators.
• Experience in supervision or readiness to step into a leadership role.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily vineyard tasks and provide clear direction to machinery operators
• Monitor progress, resolve issues and communicate with the Viticulturist
• Ensure tractors, sprayers and implements are ready and well-maintained
• Operate machinery across the seasonal programme and provide hands-on support
• Supervise permanent, seasonal and contract staff, ensuring quality, productivity and safety
• Lead day-to-day harvest operations, including machinery coordination and problem-solving
• Complete accurate operational records, time sheets and basic data entry

You'll be the practical link between the Viticulturist and the in-field team—turning vineyard priorities into clear daily tasks, supporting operators, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. This is a predominantly field-based role with a mix of machinery operation, coordination, supervision and basic record-keeping.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily vineyard tasks and provide clear direction to machinery operators
• Monitor progress, resolve issues and maintain strong communication with the Viticulturist
• Ensure tractors, sprayers and implements are ready, well-maintained and fit for purpose
• Operate machinery across the seasonal programme and provide hands-on support when needed
• Supervise permanent, seasonal and contract staff, ensuring quality, productivity and safety
• Lead day-to-day harvest operations, including machinery coordination and problem-solving
• Complete accurate operational records, time sheets and basic data entry

About you

• Strong practical experience with vineyard tractors, sprayers and implements
• Solid mechanical aptitude and confidence with preventative maintenance and fault-finding
• Calm, clear communication and the ability to organise work and support operators
• Experience in supervision or readiness to step into a leadership role
• Full NZ driver's licence and ability to meet the physical demands of the role
• Relevant qualifications (viticulture, horticulture, agriculture or mechanical) are an advantage
