Job summary

Veterinaryfirst Limited – Queenstown, South Island, is seeking a qualified Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly mixed-practice team in Wanaka for a fixed-term period. The role runs from 1 December 2026 to 31 March 2027 to support the clinic during a temporary staffing shortage.

You’ll perform varied clinical work across surgical nursing, consultations, patient care and rural support while joining an experienced team.

Qualifications

• Certificate or Diploma in Veterinary Nursing.
• New Zealand working rights.
• Confidence in patient monitoring and anaesthesia.
• Friendly, positive personality with a team-first approach.

Spend summer in Wānaka and make a difference as part of our friendly mixed-practice team.

Petfirst + Farmfirst Veterinary Aspiring is looking for a qualified Veterinary Nurse to join our supportive mixed-practice team in Wānaka.

This fixed-term role runs from 1 December 2026 to 31 March 2027 to support the clinic during a temporary staffing shortage.

About the Role

You’ll enjoy varied clinical work across surgical nursing, consultations, patient care and rural support.

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate patient care.


• Work alongside an experienced and supportive team.


• Build trusted relationships with pet parents and rural clients.

You’ll work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.00am–5.00pm, with some Saturday clinics and weekend on-call duties shared across the roster.

What We're Looking For

Our preferred candidate will have:

• A Certificate or Diploma in Veterinary Nursing; applicants at all experience levels are encouraged to apply.


• New Zealand working rights.


• Confidence in patient monitoring and anaesthesia.


• A friendly, positive personality, a genuine team-first approach, and a willingness to pitch in and help.
