Job summary

Asteron Life is seeking a talented actuarial professional to join our Valuation team as a Valuation Actuary in New Zealand. You will focus on financial reporting and contribute across the actuarial function in a hands-on role, shaping processes and controls while partnering with Finance and business leaders.

Qualifications

• Progress towards actuarial qualification (Actuaries Institute of Australia, NZ Society of Actuaries, or equivalent).
• Experience in life insurance or financial services with valuation and actuarial judgement.
• Knowledge of NZ insurance regulation and IFRS17/IFRS reporting; experience using Prophet or similar software.

Responsibilities

• Valuation and reporting – prepare actuarial and financial reporting with controls and model monitoring.
• Identify and assess risks affecting insurance liabilities, capital and profitability; provide actuarial advice.
• Contribute to improvements in systems, controls and reporting processes with focus on accuracy and automation.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior members of the actuarial team.
• Support Capital and Reinsurance functions as required.
• Engage stakeholders and explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Contribute to broader actuarial function and related projects.
