Job summary

Jora New Zealand is seeking a hands-on field technician to locate and map underground utilities across Auckland using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and electromagnetic locating equipment (EML). You will establish locations, depths and alignments, interpret service plans, and collect and record field data while working on secure infrastructure sites.

Prior utility locating or surveying experience and a valid NZ driver licence are required.

Qualifications

• 1+ years’ utility locating / utility surveying experience.
• Hands-on experience using GPR and EML.
• Understanding of underground services and infrastructure.
• Strong Health & Safety awareness.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
• Full NZ driver licence.
• Flexibility for night shifts when required.

About You We are looking for someone with:

• 1+ years’ utility locating / utility surveying experience
• Hands‑on experience using GPR and EML
• A good understanding of underground services and infrastructure
• Strong Health & Safety awareness
• A practical approach and ability to work independently
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• A full NZ driver licence
• Flexibility to work some night shifts when projects require it

Experience with GPR data processing, utility mapping, GIS, BeforeUDig, potholing/service proving or civil surveying would be advantageous.
You will also need to be able to meet security and access requirements for work on controlled infrastructure sites.
