Job summary

RobLawMax Recruitment seeks an experienced Production Engineer for an underground mining operation in New Zealand. The role focuses on drill & blast design, narrow-vein stoping, and production planning to maximise ore recovery while controlling dilution and overbreak.

You will work closely with underground operations, geology and survey teams, delivering practical engineering solutions and continuous improvement in drilling efficiency and stoping methods.

Qualifications

• Mining Engineering degree required.
• Minimum 2+ years underground mining experience.
• Strong underground drill & blast design experience.
• Experience with narrow-vein underground mining.
• Practical understanding of narrow-vein stoping methods.
• Experience with underground production planning and mine design.
• Strong dilution and overbreak control knowledge.
• Experience with Deswik or similar software.

Responsibilities

• Underground production drill & blast design.
• Design and optimisation of narrow-vein stoping.
• Short-term production planning and scheduling.
• Stope and development design.
• Monitor blast performance, dilution, recovery and overbreak.
• Conduct regular underground inspections of production areas.
• Track production and development against forecast.
• Work with Shift Supervisors on daily production planning.
• Provide engineering support to underground operations.
• Assist with geotechnical inspections and rehabilitation planning.
• Improve drill & blast performance and mining efficiency.
