What You'll Be Doing
As a key member of the Technical Services team, you'll provide engineering expertise that supports safe, productive, and efficient underground mining operations.
Key responsibilities include:
Mine Planning & Design
- Produce development and stope designs that maximise ore recovery, productivity, and safety
- Develop practical mine plans aligned with geological, geotechnical, and operational requirements
- Identify and mitigate risks during the planning process
- Maintain mine design records and engineering documentation
- Ensure timely delivery of plans to support operational requirements
Mine Scheduling & Performance
- Develop and maintain weekly, monthly, and rolling three-month production schedules
- Monitor mining activities against plan and provide variance analysis and recommendations
- Support operations with technical guidance to achieve production targets safely and efficiently
- Communicate scheduling risks and mitigation strategies to stakeholders
- Produce daily and weekly performance reports
- Analyse production data and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
Technical Leadership
- Work closely with geology, geotechnical, survey, and operations teams
- Provide practical engineering advice to site leadership
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Support the implementation of best-practice underground mining methods
What You Need
To succeed in this role, you'll bring a combination of strong technical capability and practical underground mining experience.
Essential requirements:
- Degree qualification in Mining Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 2 years' underground mining experience
- Experience in narrow vein underground mining operations
- Strong mine planning and scheduling capability
- Experience using Deswik or similar mine planning software
- Ability to analyse production data and communicate findings clearly
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Strong understanding of underground mining practices and risk management
- Commitment to health, safety, and environmental excellence
Highly regarded:
- Previous experience in a production-focused underground gold operation
- Leadership or supervisory experience
- Exposure to start-up or expanding mining operations
