Job summary

Snowy River Gold Mine near Reefton, West Coast, is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to join the Technical Services team. This role offers essential input to mine planning, scheduling, and performance in a growing New Zealand operation.

You will lead development of plans, oversee underground designs, and collaborate with geology, survey, and operations to optimise safety and productivity while delivering on production targets.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years' underground mining experience.
• Experience in narrow vein underground mining operations.
• Strong mine planning and scheduling capability.
• Experience using Deswik or similar mine planning software.
• Ability to analyse production data and communicate findings clearly.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Strong understanding of underground mining practices and risk management.
• Commitment to health, safety, and environmental excellence.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering expertise to support safe, productive underground mining operations.
• Produce development and stope designs that maximise ore recovery, productivity, and safety.
• Develop practical mine plans aligned with geological, geotechnical, and operational requirements.
• Identify and mitigate risks during planning.
• Maintain mine design records and documentation.
• Deliver plans to support operational requirements.
• Develop and maintain production schedules (weekly, monthly, 3-month).
• Monitor activities against plan and provide variance analyses and recommendations.
• Provide technical guidance to operations to meet targets safely and efficiently.
