Job summary

Macmahon Underground is returning to New Zealand and seeks experienced Jumbo Operators for the Snowy River Gold Mine Project near Reefton on New Zealand’s South Island. You will join a team delivering underground development, production and backfill services from October 2026 with a strong safety culture and hands-on collaboration.

The role requires proven jumbo drilling experience, commitment to safe operations and a team-first attitude, with roster options including local 7:7 or FIFO 14:14,

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience operating jumbo drill rigs.
• Strong safety focus and ability to speak up.
• Team mindset and reliable work ethic.
• NZ Class 1 Driver Licence with DG endorsement (essential).
• First Aid Certificate (highly desired).

Responsibilities

• Operate Sandvik jumbo drill rig in a safe and efficient manner.
• Read and understand development designs and memos to guide work activities.
• Carry out underground development activities, including boring and installation of ground support.
• Install various types of ground support, including split sets, resin bolts and mesh.
• Contribute to all stages of the mining cycle, maintaining productivity and minimising downtime.
• Provide clear and effective communication.
• Contribute to our people-first culture and live our Winning Values.
• Help teammates, share knowledge and support a strong crew culture.
