Job summary

Macmahon Underground is returning to New Zealand and seeking experienced Jumbo Operators to join the Snowy River Gold Mine Project near Reefton on the South Island.

Join a safety‑focused crew delivering underground development, production and backfill services. You’ll operate Sandvik jumbo rigs, read development designs, install ground support and contribute to all mining cycle stages while working 7:7 local or 14:14 FIFO rosters. Accommodation and flights provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience operating the jumbo drill rigs.
• Strong safety focus and ability to speak up.
• Valid NZ Class 1 unrestricted manual license with D endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Operate Sandvik jumbo drill rig in a safe and efficient manner.
• Read and understand development designs to guide work activities.
• Carry out underground development activities, including boring and ground support installation.
• Install ground support such as split sets, resin bolts and mesh.
• Contribute to all stages of the mining cycle, maintaining productivity and minimising downtime.
• Provide clear and effective communication.
• Contribute to people-first culture and Winning Values.
• Help teammates and support a strong crew culture.

• Location: Snowy River Gold Mine Project – Reefton, New Zealand’s South Island
• Roster: 7:7 (Local) or 14:14 (FIFO)
• Accommodation allowance provided for local personnel

About the Role

Macmahon Underground is returning to New Zealand and seeking experienced Jumbo Operators to join the Snowy River Gold Mine Project near Reefton on New Zealand’s South Island.

As part of this exciting opportunity, Macmahon will deliver underground development, production and backfill services from October 2026.

We are looking for safety-focused operators with proven underground mining experience and strong capability operating underground development drill rigs.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand development designs and operational memos to guide work activities.
• Carry out underground development activities, including boring and installation of ground support.
• Installation various types of ground support,including split sets, resin bolts and mesh.
• Contribute to all stages of the mining cycle, maintaining productivity and minimising downtime.
• Provide clear and effective communication.
• Contribute to our people-first culture and live our Winning Values.
• Help teammates, shareknowledgeand support a strong crew culture.

What You’ll Bring

• Minimum 2 years’ experience operating the jumbo drill rigs.
• Strong safety focus and ability to speak up.
• A team mindset and reliable work ethic.
• Commitment to contributing to a positive culture.
• Valid Class 1 (unrestricted manual) New Zealand drivers licence with a Dangerous Goods (D) endorsement (essential).
• First Aid Certificate (highly desired).
