Job summary

Macmahon Underground is returning to New Zealand and seeks experienced Underground Grader Operators to join the Snowy River Gold Mine Project near Reefton on the South Island. You'll operate CAT 12M graders, helping build haul roads and support underground development from October 2026.

This safety-focused role requires proven underground mining experience, a onsite local roster (7:7 or 14:14), and a valid NZ Class 1 license.

Qualifications

• Experience operating underground graders in mining environments.
• Proven commitment to safety and hazard reporting.
• Demonstrated teamwork and positive culture contribution.
• NZ Class 1 (unrestricted) driver's license is essential.

Responsibilities

• Operate CAT 12M graders or equivalent safely and efficiently.
• Maintain haul roads and access routes within active mining areas.
• Complete pre-start checks and report hazards immediately.
• Follow project plans, instructions and traffic rules.
• Contribute to a safety-first, collaborative crew culture.
• Support teammates and share knowledge to strengthen the team.

About the Role

Macmahon Underground is returning to New Zealand and seeking experienced Underground Grader Operators to join the Snowy River Gold Mine Project near Reefton on New Zealand's South Island.

As part of this exciting opportunity, Macmahon will deliver underground development, production and backfill services from October 2026.

We are looking for safety-focused operators with proven underground mining experience operating the CAT 12M graders (or equivalent). Successful candidates will play a key role in maintaining safe, efficient haulage routes and work areas, supporting productivity across our growing underground operation.

Responsibilities

• Safe, efficient operation of the CAT 12M graders OR equivalent.
• Maintain and build haul roads and access roads in active mining areas.
• Complete pre-starts and report hazards or defects immediately.
• Follow plans, instructions and traffic management rules.
