Job summary

New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) invites applicants for Compliance Officer roles based in Palmerston North. You will conduct audits and reviews, assess compliance, and contribute to safer commercial transport outcomes through evidence-based decisions.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification or regulatory experience would be beneficial.
• Experience delivering audits and reviews using a risk-based approach to assess compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies, and regulatory requirements in a practical and consistent manner.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and record-keeping capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, undertake, and make decisions on audits and reviews of regulated parties to ensure compliance.
• Collect, analyse, and evaluate information from diverse sources to identify non-compliance or emerging risk.
• Prepare clear, well-reasoned assessments with evidence and escalate complex matters to senior staff.
• Maintain accurate records in line with privacy and information-management requirements.
• Travel is a key part of this role, engaging with operators across regions.
