Job summary

ACCIONA Northland Corridor Project in New Zealand is seeking an experienced Training and Competency lead to develop and deliver the project-wide training strategy. You will work with site teams, HR, and external providers to raise workforce capability and ensure compliance with project requirements.

Based in North Auckland, the role collaborates with the project HR Manager and external providers to build essential systems and partnerships.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in HR, education or organisational development.
• Experience in training or L&D within civil or infrastructure construction.
• Experience partnering with polytechnics, PTEs and industry bodies.
• Strong understanding of the NZQA and vocational education framework.
• High-level organisational skills and ability to work autonomously.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement training and competency programs for the project.
• Design apprenticeship and traineeship programs with polytechnics and industry bodies.
• Set up project induction and site access training programs.
• Track training and skills reporting requirements.
• Maintain the site access and competency management system.
• Advise project and site teams on training and compliance matters.

ACCIONA has built a strong infrastructure presence in New Zealand over the past decade, delivering the Pūhoi to Warkworth motorway and Auckland's Eastern Busway. With financial close reached on the Warkworth to Te Hana project, New Zealand's largest PPP, our pipeline across the country continues to grow.

About Opportunity

Join ACCIONA and be part of a team delivering one of New Zealand's most significant transport infrastructure projects. The Northland Corridor Warkworth to Te Hana - Ara Tūhono project will enhance connectivity, improve safety and support regional growth, leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.

This role sits within ACCIONA's Northland Corridor Project, based in North Auckland, and reports to the Operations Services Manager. You will develop and deliver the training and competency strategy for the Northland Corridor Project, working closely with the project HR Manager, site teams, and external training providers. You will build the systems, programs, and partnerships that grow workforce capability across the project.

Key accountabilities for the position will be:

• Develop and implement training and competency programs to support the Skills and Competency Matrix for the project, ensuring workers are trained, competent, and verified to operate plant and equipment in accordance with project requirements
• Design apprenticeship and traineeship programs with polytechnics and industry bodies
• Set up project induction and site access training programs
• Track training and skills reporting requirements for the project
• Maintain the site access and competency management system
• Advise project and site teams on training and compliance matters

Required Skills and Competencies

• Tertiary qualification in HR, education or organisational development
• Extensive experience in training or L&D within civil or infrastructure construction
• Proven experience partnering with polytechnics, PTEs and industry bodies
• Strong understanding of the NZQA and vocational education framework
• High-level organisational skills and ability to work autonomously
