Job summary

NZ Safety Blackwoods is seeking a Trade Centre Supervisor for our Avondale Trade Centre. You will lead a team, drive sales, and deliver outstanding customer experiences while managing daily operations.

Ideal candidates bring retail/trade sales experience, a commercial mindset, and the ability to influence outcomes. This role offers development, a hands-on leadership path, and opportunities across a national business.

Qualifications

• Experience in retail, trade sales, customer service, or similar customer-facing roles.
• Strong commercial mindset with drive to grow sales and branch performance.
• Comfort with targets across sales, operations, and finances.
• Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
• Ability to influence others through actions and attitude.
• Hands-on, proactive approach with ability to perform manual handling.
• Excellent communication and a positive, can-do attitude.
• Experience with industrial products (PPE, engineering supplies, tools) advantageous, but training provided.

Responsibilities

• Support the Trade Centre Manager to hit and exceed branch sales targets, KPIs, budgets.
• Identify opportunities to grow sales, engage customers, and improve branch performance.
• Lead by example with exceptional customer service and relationships.
• Influence outcomes through collaboration, initiative and solutions-focused approach.
• Coordinate daily branch activities to meet customer requirements on time.
• Assist with inventory management, stock takes, and inwards goods.
• Support branch administration: invoices, banking, stock receipts, POs, credits, POS.
• Maintain health, safety and branch presentation standards.
• Undertake manual handling tasks and support operations as needed.
• Collaborate with Account Managers and internal stakeholders to maximise opportunities.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has become available for a motivated and commercially minded Trade Centre Supervisor to join our team at our Avondale Trade Centre.

Reporting to the Trade Centre Manager, you'll play a key role in the success of the branch by creating exceptional customer experiences, identifying opportunities to grow sales, and helping drive strong commercial performance. This is a hands‑on role where you'll work closely with your team, customers, and internal stakeholders to deliver results while developing the leadership skills needed for future career growth.

This role is ideal for an experienced Trade Sales Assistant, Team Leader, or customer‑focused sales professional who is naturally curious, enjoys influencing outcomes, and is ready to take the next step in their leadership journey.

Working Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with rostered Saturdays, you'll enjoy a varied role that combines customer engagement, operational excellence, and commercial accountability.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Trade Centre Manager to achieve and exceed branch sales targets, KPIs, and budget objectives.
• Identify opportunities to grow sales, increase customer engagement, and improve branch performance.
• Lead by example by delivering exceptional customer service and building strong customer relationships.
• Influence positive outcomes through collaboration, initiative, and a solutions‑focused approach.
• Coordinate daily branch activities to ensure customer requirements are delivered accurately and on time.
• Assist with inventory management, stock control, stock takes, and inwards goods processes.
• Support branch administration, including invoices, banking, stock receipts, purchase orders, credits, and point‑of‑sale transactions.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety, and branch presentation.
• Undertake manual handling tasks and support operational activities as required.
• Work collaboratively with Account Managers and internal stakeholders to maximise customer opportunities and branch growth.

• A proactive, hands‑on approach with the ability to undertake manual handling tasks.
• Excellent communication skills and a positive, can‑do attitude.
• Experience with industrial products, PPE, engineering supplies, tools, or related industries would be advantageous, but not essential. Full training will be provided.
