Job summary

Z Energy is seeking a Ringahāpai Tumu Herenga Waka Terminal Operator for the Timaru Terminal on a 12‑month fixed term contract. You will be part of a close team handling stock movements, safety checks, and bulk ship receipts, with on‑the‑job training provided.

The role offers a pathway to Shore Officer certs, with a focus on safety, process discipline, and teamwork in a busy transport energy environment.

Qualifications

• High level of communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work inside and outside an office.
• Practical hands-on nature with basic mechanical understanding.
• Good work ethic and a strong team player.
• Computer literate with ability to learn new systems.
• Able to pass regular medicals including drug and alcohol testing.
• Full and clean driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Receive petroleum products from ships into bulk tanks, tank gauging, product sampling & testing, product transfers, compliance checks and forklift operations.
• Learn and comply with Safety and Wellbeing policies, standards and procedures to ensure the Terminal is run safely and reliably.
• Train to become certified in Shore Officer and Permit to Work responsibilities.
• Help supervise and coordinate maintenance activities and record tasks in Z’s maintenance system.
• Provide administrative support with stock management, purchasing and other day-to-day terminal tasks.
• Participate in regular training.
