Job summary

Employer Sponsored Jobs is seeking a Thai Chef for a permanent, full-time position in Hastings, New Zealand. The role requires a minimum 30 hours per week in a busy kitchen, delivering high-quality Thai dishes from prep to presentation.

The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of Thai cooking techniques, herbs and ingredients, plus the ability to work efficiently under pressure and lead a small kitchen team. Sponsorship is available under AEWV as an Accredited Employer.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of Thai chef experience or a relevant qualification in commercial cookery.
• Proven experience in cooking authentic Thai cuisine.
• Strong knowledge of Thai cooking techniques, herbs and ingredients.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking the restaurant's authentic Thai dishes, including curries, soups, stir-fries, entrees and salads.
• Ensuring all dishes meet taste, quality and presentation standards.
• Managing daily kitchen operations, including preparation and food storage.
• Keeping the kitchen compliant with hygiene rules and health and food safety regulations.
• Assisting with menu planning.
• Assisting with stock management and portion control.
• Supervising and training junior kitchen staff.
