Job summary

Sea Air Land Communications in Addington, South Island, is seeking a Test Technician to join our manufacturing team. This hands-on role focuses on production testing, fault-finding, repairs and supporting all departments to ensure Salcom products meet quality and regulatory requirements.

You will read schematics, perform soldering and assembly, program and test products, maintain test records and provide feedback to Engineering and Production.

Qualifications

• Experience in electronics testing, manufacturing, servicing or repair.
• Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and circuit diagrams.
• Proficient with electronic test equipment and fault-finding.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Basic computer skills (Word/Excel).
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Test and diagnose Salcom electronic products.
• Carry out production testing with accuracy and consistency.
• Fault-find and repair production and customer-returned products.

• Undertake soldering and electronic assembly work.
• Program and test products prior to delivery.
• Provide feedback to Engineering and Production on product issues.
• Assist with final assembly and product repairs as required.
• Maintain accurate test records and follow quality procedures.

About you

• Previous experience in electronics testing, manufacturing, servicing or repair.
• Good soldering skills and experience working with electronic components.
• The ability to read and understand electronic schematics and circuit diagrams.
• Experience using electronic test equipment.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Good attention to detail and accuracy.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
• A practical, hands-on approach and a willingness to learn.
• Applicable University Degree (B E), Certificate in Engineering or similar Electronics qualifications.
