Job summary

Cubic Group’s Cubic Defense unit is seeking a Test Engineer to perform test engineering tasks following defined standards and procedures. You will apply well-defined test techniques and develop test plans and procedures under supervision.

You will review requirements, assist in developing procedures, perform analyses, and coordinate with manufacturing and design teams to resolve issues before release. This role also supports production testing at Cubic sites and customer premises.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in electronic engineering, computer science, information systems, or other relevant technical disciplines.
  • Two years experience related to production, test and evaluation, or test equipment development.
  • Two years minimum experience in using test equipment (oscilloscope, multimeters, spectrum analyser).
  • Software knowledge sufficient to operate software interfaces based on message structures to the data (bits/bytes) structures level. Hexadecimal message structures knowledge required to test interfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews proposed engineering test requirements and criteria for production.
  • Assists in developing test procedures, test documentation, and troubleshooting techniques and training support of test personnel.
  • Assists in the development and documentation associated with production acceptance, in process, and environmental stress screening test procedures.
  • Performs analyses of test requirements and test criteria and provides input as to the optimum methods of implementation.
  • Assesses and makes recommendations as to the equipment requirements and materials to be utilized for production test and trials or demonstrations for new bids.
  • Coordinates with manufacturing engineering on proposed manufacturing/production sequencing to determine overall best manufacturing configuration or build state to achieve desired product verification.
  • With manufacturing and industrial engineering, develops estimates for test time, cycle time, equipment usage, and capacity.
  • Prior to production release, assists in performing first article proofing of the procedures with the required equipment and any necessary software.
  • Coordinates with Design and Quality Engineering to resolve any problems prior to release.
  • Supports production testing by providing liaison support between product test, manufacturing and design engineering for resolving technical problems encountered during test.
  • Supports programs by preparing for and carrying out formal acceptance testing with the customer, both at Cubic sites and abroad at the customer premises.

Job Details:

The Test Engineer perform test engineering assignments following designated standards and procedures. Duties include the application of well-defined test techniques and are of a fundamental nature and moderate degree of complexity. From time to time, this role will require the ability to assess a simplistic product’s requirements and to define a test plan and procedures. This position typically works under general supervision and direction.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Reviews proposed engineering test requirements and criteria for production.
  • Assists in developing test procedures, test documentation, and troubleshooting techniques and training support of test personnel.
  • Assists in the development, and documentation associated with production acceptance, in process, and environmental stress screening test procedures.
  • Performs analyses of test requirements and test criteria and provides input as to the optimum methods of implementation.
  • Assesses and makes recommendations as to the equipment requirements and materials to be utilized for production test and trials or demonstrations for new bids.
  • Makes recommendations to management as to the equipment requirement and estimates for commercial off the shelf (COTS) or bench top type equipment.
  • Coordinates with manufacturing engineering on proposed manufacturing/production sequencing to determine overall best manufacturing configuration or build state to achieve desired product verification.
  • With manufacturing and industrial engineering, develops estimates for test time, cycle time, equipment usage, and capacity.

About You:

  • Software knowledge sufficient to operate software interfaces based on message structures to the data (bits/bytes) structures level. This knowledge of hexadecimal message structures will be required to test interfaces.
  • Thorough understanding of engineering documents (assembly drawings, schematics, and specifications), ability to read and interpret manufacturer's operator manuals for test equipment, ability to read and interpret component requirements from manufacturer's data books.
