Job summary

Aderant in Auckland invites two QA Engineer Interns for a fixed-term placement from 16 November 2026 to 12 February 2027. You will gain hands-on experience in building and running automated tests to validate software reliability, under mentorship from experienced engineers.

Ideal candidates are final-year students or recent graduates in Computer Science or Software Engineering, with a interest in software testing, automation, and learning new tools such as Playwright and Leapwork.

Qualifications

  • Completed study within the last 12 months or currently studying Computer Science or Software Engineering.
  • NZQA qualification level 6-10.
  • Not previously employed by Aderant in a full-time position.
  • Not undertaken more than 2 prior internships at Aderant.

Responsibilities

  • Learn how to write and run automated tests for web and desktop applications.
  • Work with engineers and testers to understand how software is built and validated.
  • Help identify areas where automation can improve testing efficiency.
  • Use tools like Playwright and Leapwork to build test scripts.
  • Participate in team meetings and Agile development processes.
  • Document your work and share your learnings with the team.
  • How to use AI to assist in the creation of Test Plans and scripts

We are looking for TWO QA Engineer Interns to join us this summer.

Please note this is a fixed term position - starting 16 November 2026 and finishing 12 February 2027.

About the role:

Are you a recent graduate or final-year student passionate about software quality and automation? Join our team as a QA Engineer Intern and gain hands‑on experience in building and running automated tests that help ensure the reliability of our software systems.

This internship is designed to help you apply what you've learned in university to real‑world engineering challenges, with mentorship from experienced professionals.

To be eligible for this role you must:

  • Have completed study (within the last 12 months) or be currently studying Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • Be studying at NZQA qualification level 6-10
  • Have not previously been employed by Aderant in a FT position
  • Have not undertaken more than 2 pervious internships at Aderant

The pay rate for this role is $29.90 per hour for the duration of the internship.

What will you be doing:

What can you bring to this role:

  • Currently studying or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with programming concepts and basic coding skills.
  • Interest in software testing and quality assurance.
  • Willingness to learn new tools and technologies.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Able to work independently & within a team.

  • How automated testing fits into the software development lifecycle.
  • Best practices for writing maintainable and effective test scripts.
  • How to collaborate in a professional engineering team.
  • Exposure to Agile methodologies and CI/CD pipelines.

  • You’ve explored tools like Playwright or similar automation frameworks tools or written basic test scripts.
  • You’re curious about how large-scale software systems are tested.
