About the Role

Our client, a major telecommunications infrastructure provider, is seeking an experienced Telecoms Infrastructure Engineer to join their team in Queenstown, Eastern Cape . This critical role involves the design, implementation, and maintenance of the physical and logical infrastructure that supports telecommunications networks. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our client's network assets, including fiber optic cables, base stations, and data centers. The ideal candidate will have a robust engineering background and a proven ability to manage complex infrastructure projects in challenging environments. Key Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and oversee the deployment of telecommunications infrastructure, including fiber optic networks and wireless sites.
• Manage the lifecycle of network infrastructure assets, from installation and commissioning to maintenance and decommissioning.
• Conduct site surveys, feasibility studies, and technical assessments for new infrastructure projects.
• Develop and implement network upgrades and enhancements to improve performance and capacity.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental policies.
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues impacting network operations.
• Collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and contractors to ensure project success.
• Manage infrastructure budgets, track expenditures, and optimize resource allocation.
• Maintain accurate documentation of network infrastructure, including diagrams, records, and asset management systems.
• Stay updated on emerging infrastructure technologies and best practices.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in telecommunications infrastructure design, deployment, and management.
• Proven experience with fiber optic network deployment, including splicing, testing, and pathway management.
• Knowledge of civil works, tower infrastructure, and power systems relevant to telecom sites.
• Experience with project management methodologies and tools.
• Strong understanding of relevant industry standards and regulations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in CAD software and GIS tools for infrastructure planning.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel to various sites within the Eastern Cape region.
