Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Telecommunications Infrastructure Engineer for Queenstown, Eastern Cape, on-site. You will design, deploy and validate fiber/microwave networks, conduct surveys, oversee installation and commissioning, and ensure safety and quality standards are met.

Requires a degree in Electrical/Telecommunications Engineering and 5+ years of experience. Strong vendor management and documentation skills are essential; familiarity with SA regulations is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, Telecommunications Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in telecommunications infrastructure design, deployment, or management.
• Strong understanding of fiber optic technologies (FTTH/FTTB), splicing and testing.

Responsibilities

• Design and plan telecommunications infrastructure projects including fiber and wireless systems.
• Oversee installation, testing and commissioning of network equipment.
• Conduct site surveys and feasibility studies for new deployments.
• Ensure projects meet design specs, quality standards and safety regulations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to network infrastructure components.
• Manage vendor/contractor relationships during deployment.
• Maintain accurate documentation of assets, designs and configurations.
• Collaborate with network operations and planning teams to meet service requirements.
• Identify opportunities for upgrades and optimization.
• Stay current with advancements in telecom infrastructure technologies.
