About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Telecommunications Technician to join their team, supporting infrastructure in the Queenstown region. This role is critical for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equipment, including networks, cabling, and transmission systems. You will be responsible for ensuring reliable connectivity and high-quality service for clients, working on-site to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues. The ideal candidate is proficient in telecommunications technology, possesses strong diagnostic skills, and is committed to delivering exceptional service in a dynamic field. This hybrid role allows for field work alongside remote diagnostic and planning tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, test, and maintain telecommunications equipment, including routers, switches, and fiber optic systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair network connectivity issues and service disruptions.
• Interpret technical diagrams and specifications for network infrastructure.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on telecommunications systems.
• Respond to emergency service calls to resolve critical network problems.
• Document all installation, maintenance, and repair activities accurately.

Requirements

• Experience as a Telecommunications Technician or in a related field.
• Knowledge of networking protocols, telecommunications systems, and related hardware.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and testing equipment for network analysis.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively, both in the field and remotely.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Relevant certifications in networking or telecommunications are advantageous.
