As a Telecommunications Technical Rigger, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance and upgrade of telecommunications infrastructure including:
4G, 5G and future wireless technologies
Radio communications systems
Microwave transmission equipment
Antenna systems and feeders
Satellite communications systems
HF, VHF, UHF and Land Mobile Radio (LMR) networks
Public Safety and Emergency Communications networks
Telecommunications towers and structures
Government, utility and enterprise communications infrastructure
You will work closely with Project Managers, Project Coordinators, Field Managers, Technical Specialists and customer representatives to successfully deliver projects aligned with Infratel's core pillars of:

Key Responsibilities
Telecommunications & Mobile Network Installation
- Install antennas, feeders, mounts and associated telecommunications equipment.
- Complete mobile network upgrades and technology refresh programmes.
- Install and commission radio and transmission systems.
- Complete equipment swaps, configuration support and network integration activities.
- Perform structured cabling and fibre optic installation activities.
- Undertake maintenance, fault finding and corrective works.
Rigging & Working at Height
- Climb telecommunications towers, monopoles and elevated structures.
- Perform rigging and lifting operations safely and efficiently.
- Install brackets, mounting systems and structural components.
- Ensure all rigging activities comply with engineering specifications and site requirements.
Quality Assurance
- Complete work to specification and customer standards.
- Maintain accurate installation documentation and as-built records.
- Support quality audits and inspections.
- Contribute to first-time acceptance and defect reduction objectives.
Safety Leadership
- Follow all HSEQ procedures and critical risk controls.
- Participate in toolbox meetings and safety initiatives.
- Complete Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and risk assessments.
- Report hazards, near misses and incidents.
- Promote a positive safety culture across all projects.
Customer & Team Support
- Represent Infratel professionally on customer sites.
- Communicate effectively with customers, project teams and subcontractors.
- Support project delivery commitments and deadlines.
- Assist with mentoring and development of junior riggers where required.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Minimum 3 years proven Telecommunications rigging experience.
- Working at Heights certification.
- Full New Zealand Driver Licence.
- Strong understanding of mobile telecommunications infrastructure.
- Ability to read and interpret site designs and technical documentation.
- Strong safety focus and commitment to safe work practices.
- Ability to travel throughout New Zealand and Internationally.
- Physically fit and capable of climbing telecommunications structures.
Preferred
- RF Awareness certification.
- Tower Rescue certification.
- EWP certification.
- First Aid certification.
- Fibre optic installation experience.
- Microwave installation experience.
- Radio communications experience.
- Elevated Work Platform experience.
- Telecommunications industry qualifications.
