Bank of New Zealand (BNZ) is seeking a Platform Architect to lead architecture and technical direction across our Salesforce and nCino platforms. The role sits within the Customer360 team and reports to the Platform Manager, offering hybrid work from Wellington or Auckland.
You will guide architectural decisions, drive security and scalability, and mentor engineers to sustain engineering excellence as BNZ transforms its technology landscape.
Here at BNZ, it's about more than just banking. We work together in an agile, energising environment to create innovative solutions through our promise "If you can imagine a better future, let's find a way."
We support wellbeing, flexible working and have a generous leave offering. There is the opportunity for growth, learning and career development. No two days are the same.
Join our Customer360 team and be at the heart of one of BNZ's most significant technology transformations. We're creating a connected colleague platform that brings together customer conversations, lending journeys and workflows into a single experience, helping our colleagues better support customers at every stage of their banking journey. Leveraging Salesforce, nCino and AI, we're transforming how colleagues work and how customers are served, creating smarter, faster and more connected experiences at scale.
We have an opportunity for a Platform Architect (known in BNZ as a Principal Engineer) to join our team and provide architecture and technical leadership across our Salesforce and nCino platform.
This role offers the opportunity to operate as a leader within Customer360, helping guide technical solutions for one of BNZ's most significant technology investments. By aligning with business goals and the platform’s best practice capabilities, you’ll help shape the architecture that enables us to deliver solutions that are secure, scalable, resilient, and fit for purpose as we continue our transformation journey.
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in Wellington or Auckland, with a hybrid working model and reporting to the Platform Manager.
You’ll join a highly collaborative technology group of engineers, business analysts and testers within a wider programme team across four companies and three countries. You’ll be a key member of our technical domain leadership group composed of Engineering Leads, Platform Owners, and Principal Engineers. The existing environment features people who are focused on colleague outcomes, stay cool in a crisis, and like to meet high standards of quality in everything they do. Our leadership group is committed to creating a collaborative and supportive environment while driving for continuous improvement.
This role gives you with the opportunity to provide solutions for one of New Zealand's largest Salesforce and nCino implementations. You'll help guide technical decisions that will contribute to the delivery of modern banking experiences used by thousands of colleagues and customers. The role offers significant scope to leave a lasting impact through technical leadership, mentoring and engineering excellence.
You’ll be navigating complex enterprise environments that balance colleague outcomes, regulatory obligations, operational resilience, security requirements, and delivery priorities. Success requires pragmatic technical judgement, systems thinking, influence without authority, and the ability to guide teams while maintaining a focus on simplicity, quality, and long-term sustainability.
This role is suited to someone who sees beyond individual solutions and understands how decisions impact colleagues, the platform, operations, security, and long-term maintainability. You’ll be a pragmatic leader, able to balance engineering excellence with delivery outcomes, knowing when to pursue the ideal solution versus the right solution.
This is an exciting opportunity to join us! We're bold thinkers who are taking brave steps to create a company that people want to work for, and customers want to bank with. If you're ready to join a fun organisation where we are proud of our culture and how we are helping New Zealander's to 'Find their way'.
Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, ... "Success is not the work of an individual, but the work of many."
