Job summary

WorkSafe New Zealand (MahiHaumaruAotearoa) is seeking a Technical Solutions Lead to own the architecture and delivery of Dynamics 365 and Power Platform solutions. You will guide cross‑functional teams, translate business needs into robust designs, and drive improvements across security and performance.

You will have 5–7 years of senior Microsoft-focused experience, lead 4 direct reports, and work within a 12-month fixed-term contract in Wellington.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Minimum 5-7 years' experience in solution architecture or senior technical roles within enterprise Microsoft environments.
• Strong hands-on experience designing and delivering solutions using Microsoft Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform.
• Proven experience leading technical teams and providing architectural direction.

The Dynamics Platform team is part of WorkSafe's Digital and Information Services unit, supporting WorkSafe to make smart technology choices and empower staff with practical tools and systems that harness the power of digital - helping create healthier, safer workplaces across Aotearoa.

About the role / Ō te tūranga

The Technical Solutions Lead is responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and oversight of Dynamics 365 and Power Platform solutions that align with organisational objectives. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the role translates business requirements into robust system architectures, data models, and integrations. As a technical leader, this role ensures best-practice standards are applied throughout the development lifecycle, enables seamless integration with enterprise systems, and drives continuous improvement by evaluating new platform capabilities and optimising overall performance. The Technical Solutions Lead will have 4 direct reports.

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract.

What You'll Do/ Ko tōu ake mahi

• Lead the end-to-end architecture and technical direction of Dynamics 365 and Power Platform solutions that support business priorities.
• Translate complex business needs into scalable, secure solution designs, including system architecture, data models, and integrations.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership across delivery teams, setting best-practice standards and resolving complex platform challenges.
• Ensure that solutions are secure, compliant and performant.
• Design and oversee integrations with enterprise systems to enable seamless data flow and process automation.
• Partner with business and technical stakeholders to ensure architectural solutions meet user needs, support business processes, and align with enterprise priorities.
• Drive continuous improvement by ensuring performance, security, and compliance while optimising platform capability over time.
• Proven experience leading technical teams, providing architectural direction and mentoring developers to ensure technical quality across projects.
• Strong hands-on experience designing and delivering solutions using Microsoft Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform within complex enterprise environments.
• Proven expertise in solution architecture, including system integration, data modelling, security, and performance optimisation.
• Demonstrated technical leadership capability, with experience guiding delivery teams, setting standards, and ensuring quality outcomes.
• Solid experience working with Azure services, DevOps practices, and modern development tools to support scalable, secure solutions.
• A strategic mindset with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear, practical advice for business and technical stakeholders.
• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field and minimum of 5-7 years' experience in solution architecture or senior technical roles within enterprise Microsoft environments.

Salary range / Awhe utu

As part of our remuneration framework, the full salary range for this role is $164,823-$216,516. (KiwiSaver/SSRSS employer contributions are additional). From 1 April 2026 our KiwiSaver employer contribution will rise to 3.5%.
