Job summary

Moshtix in Auckland, New Zealand, is seeking a Technical Lead to steer Universe initiatives, collaborating with teams across ANZ and Toronto. You will balance hands‑on coding with architectural leadership, shaping modern engineering practices and AI-enabled delivery.

The role reports into the Moshtix engineering leadership, focuses on cross‑platform outcomes, and involves flexible hours to align with Toronto. Hybrid work model and travel to partner sites are expected.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software development in production engineering teams.
• 2+ years in a technical lead or equivalent role.
• Deep full‑stack experience with TypeScript/JavaScript, Node.js and React.
• Proven distributed systems in the cloud (AWS/GCP preferred).
• Strong API design across REST, GraphQL and/or gRPC/protobuf.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL stores and caching.
• Daily use of AI coding tools and agents with critical review of output.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across time zones.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical direction and delivery for Universe initiatives.
• Architect and ship new features while modernising legacy systems.
• Stay hands-on with production code and set quality standards.
• Design service/API boundaries (protobuf/gRPC, GraphQL) for parallel work.
• Mentor engineers, support hiring, and foster AI-aware practices.
• Ensure reliability under spike demand and lead incident reviews.
