Job summary

Delegat Group Limited is seeking a Technical Assistant for Birch Hill Vineyard in the Wairau Valley, Marlborough. The role supports a high-performing team to deliver quality fruit for premium wines.

You will collect technical data, monitor vines, and help train seasonal staff while performing hands-on vineyard maintenance and machinery tasks in outdoor conditions.

Qualifications

• Requires a tertiary qualification in viticulture or horticulture.
• Must enjoy working outdoors and be physically fit.
• Strong communication and attention to detail are essential.

• Technical data collection including vine counts, yield estimation, pruning weights, and harvest maturity sampling.
• Regular vine monitoring and reporting on pest and disease, phenology, vine nutrition, irrigation.

We are seeking a Technical Assistant to join our growing team at Birch Hill Vineyard located in the beautifulWairau Valley. This is a fantastic opportunity to work as part of a high performing team to deliver exceptional quality fruit for the making of some of the world’s most sought-after wines.

What you’ll be doing

• Technical data collection including: vine counts, yield estimation, pruning weights, and harvest maturity sampling.


• Regular vine monitoring and reporting on pest and disease, phenology, vine nutrition, irrigation


• Training and leadingseasonal labour throughout the year ensuring all work is done to the required standards


• Hands‑on vineyard maintenance and irrigation management


• Machinery Operations

What you’ll bring

• Have a tertiary qualification in viticulture or horticulture and at least 3 years’ industry experience


• You’ll love working outdoors and be physically fit to perform the duties


• You’re motivated to learn new skills and excited about the prospect of working in a high performing team


• A good eye for detail and naturally takes pride in your work


• A strong communicator with a positive attitude
