Job summary

Delegat is seeking a Technical Assistant for Birch Hill Vineyard in the Wairau Valley. You will join a high-performing team to deliver quality fruit for world-class wines.

The role involves hands-on vineyard work, data collection, pest and disease monitoring, irrigation management, and leading seasonal labour to meet high standards.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in viticulture or horticulture.
• Experience working outdoors in vineyard settings is essential.

Responsibilities

• Technical data collection including vine counts, yield estimation, pruning weights, and harvest maturity sampling.
• Regular vine monitoring and reporting on pest and disease, phenology, vine nutrition, irrigation.
• Training and leading seasonal labour throughout the year ensuring all work is done to required standards.
• Hands-on vineyard maintenance and irrigation management.
• Machinery operations.

We are seeking a Technical Assistant to join our growing team at Birch Hill Vineyard located in the beautifulWairau Valley. This is a fantastic opportunity to work as part of a high performing team to deliver exceptional quality fruit for the making of some of the world’s most sought-after wines.

What you’ll be doing

What you’ll bring

• Have a tertiary qualification in viticulture or horticulture and at least 3 years’ industry experience
• You’ll love working outdoors and be physically fit to perform the duties
• You’re motivated to learn new skills and excited about the prospect of working in a high performing team
• A good eye for detail and naturally takes pride in your work
• A strong communicator with a positive attitude
