Job summary

Birch Hill Vineyard is seeking a Technical Assistant to join the Delegat Limited team in Marlborough, New Zealand. The role focuses on technical data collection, vine monitoring, and leading seasonal labour to produce high-quality fruit for world-class wines.

Ideal candidates will have a tertiary qualification in viticulture or horticulture with at least 3 years of industry experience, enjoy outdoor work, and be eager to join a high-performing team dedicated to excellence in viticulture.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in viticulture or horticulture and at least 3 years’ industry experience.
• Physically fit for outdoor work and able to work in varying weather conditions.
• Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
• Willingness to train and lead seasonal labour teams.

Responsibilities

• Technical data collection including vine counts, yield estimation, pruning weights, and harvest maturity sampling.
• Regular vine monitoring and reporting on pest and disease, phenology, vine nutrition, irrigation.
• Training and leading seasonal labour throughout the year.
• Hands-on vineyard maintenance and irrigation management.
• Machinery operations.

We are seeking a Technical Assistant to join our growing team at Birch Hill Vineyard located in the beautifulWairau Valley. This is a fantastic opportunity to work as part of a high performing team to deliver exceptional quality fruit for the making of some of the world’s most sought-after wines.

What you’ll be doing

• Technical data collection including: vine counts, yield estimation, pruning weights, and harvest maturity sampling.

• Hands-on vineyard maintenance and irrigation management
