Senior Full Stack Software Engineer | Permanent | Auckland (Hybrid) We’re on the hunt for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join a well-established Auckland organisation as they continue to evolve their engineering capability and ways of working.

About the role This is a hands‑on senior engineering role for someone that enjoys building high‑quality, intuitive applications.

The core environment includes React, Java and Spring Boot. You'll be keeping pace with where software development is heading and you'll know how to make practical use of AI‑assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, ChatGPT/Codex, JetBrains AI or similar to improve productivity and quality, while still applying strong engineering judgement to what gets produced.

You'll be involved in:

• Designing, developing and maintaining complex full stack solutions, with plenty of opportunity to contribute across the front end.
• Working with React, Java and Spring Boot within a modern engineering environment.
• Using AI‑assisted development tools as part of your everyday engineering workflow (whether that’s coding, prototyping, refactoring, debugging, test generation or code review). While applying strong engineering judgement to AI‑generated code, ensuring it remains secure, maintainable and fit for purpose.
• Contributing to solution design and making pragmatic technical trade-offs around performance, security, scalability and time to market.
• Championing clean, maintainable code, automated testing, CI/CD and strong engineering practices.
• Reviewing designs and code, sharing knowledge and helping uplift capability across the wider engineering team.
• Working closely with product owners, architects and stakeholders to translate business needs into robust technical solutions.

About you You’ll be an experienced Software Engineer who combines strong technical fundamentals with genuine curiosity about new tools and better ways of building software. Ideally, you’ll bring:

• Strong commercial experience as a Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack Developer or similar.
• Strong React/front‑end capability, alongside the ability to work across the full stack. With experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Hands‑on experience with GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, ChatGPT/Codex, JetBrains AI or other AI‑assisted development tools.
• A good understanding of how to use AI across the development lifecycle without compromising engineering quality, security or maintainability.
• Strong knowledge of software engineering principles, design patterns and modern SDLC practices.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD and modern DevOps practices.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to collaborate across engineering, architecture, product and business teams.
