Job summary

Tokoroa Central School invites an enthusiastic teacher to lead our junior team and grow their leadership capability within a supportive school community.

You will work with a collaborative team to strengthen early literacy and mathematics, applying play-based, culturally responsive approaches and fostering strong tamariki–whānau relationships for positive learner outcomes.

Qualifications

• Has successful teaching experience in the junior school with strong curriculum and pedagogical knowledge, especially in early literacy and mathematics.
• Demonstrates play-based, oral language, and developmentally appropriate learning.
• Leads and supports a collaborative teaching team and builds strong relationships with tamariki and whānau.
• Committed to inclusive practice and contributing to school life.

Tokoroa Central School is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced teacher to lead our junior team.

The successful applicant must have proven experience teaching in the junior area of a primary school and a strong understanding of how young tamariki learn and develop. They will be a positive, collaborative leader who can support high-quality teaching and learning while building strong relationships with staff, tamariki and whānau.

We are looking for someone who:

• has successful teaching experience in the junior school and demonstrates strong curriculum and pedagogical knowledge, particularly in early literacy and mathematics
• understands the importance of play, oral language and developmentally appropriate learning
• can lead, inspire and support a collaborative teaching team
• uses assessment information effectively to strengthen teaching and improve learner outcomes
• builds positive, culturally responsive relationships with tamariki, whānau and colleagues
• is committed to inclusive practice and meeting the diverse learning and wellbeing needs of all tamariki
