Job summary

RealNZ’s Walter Peak site in Queenstown is seeking a Team Leader – Food & Beverage Retail to lead from the front across retail and F&B spaces. You’ll recruit, train and develop the team, oversee daily priorities, and ensure guest experiences match RealNZ’s warm, genuine service.

This hands‑on leadership role requires strong communication, multi‑tasking and a proactive approach to stock, sales and service, working closely with colleagues to keep Walter Peak running smoothly.

Qualifications

• 1–2+ years of supervisory experience.
• Retail and sales experience.
• Barista and bar experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Great time management and ability to multitask.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Plenty of initiative and willingness to get stuck in.
• Knowledge of stock processes and inventory systems is a plus.

We’re looking for a Team Leader – Food & Beverage Retail to join our Westaways team at Walter Peak.

This is a hands‑on leadership role where no two days are quite the same. You’ll work alongside the Westaways Coordinator to keep our Food & Beverage and Retail operations running smoothly, support and develop the team, and make sure every guest receives the warm, genuine service RealNZ is known for.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be right in the heart of the operation, leading from the front, supporting the team and jumping in wherever you’re needed.

• Support the recruitment, onboarding, training and development of team members.
• Help plan daily priorities, delegate tasks and keep the team motivated and informed.
• Deliver exceptional guest experiences across both our retail and food & beverage spaces.
• Drive sales, promote RealNZ experiences and look for opportunities to maximise every guest interaction.
• Keep retail displays looking great and support accurate stock management, stocktakes and inventory processes.
• Serve food and beverages, take orders, operate payment systems and maintain excellent food safety, hygiene and presentation standards.
• Work closely with other teams across Walter Peak and our wider Whakatipu operation to keep things running seamlessly.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

• Retail and sales experience
• Barista and bar experience

• Plenty of initiative, enthusiasm and a willingness to get stuck in.

Knowledge of retail stock processes, including receiving and transferring stock and working with inventory systems, would also be an advantage.
