Job summary

Pathways seeks a Team Coach - Peer to lead a new mental health acute care peer service in Auckland. You will guide a team of lived and living experience kaimahi, using recovery tools and rights-based care principles, reporting to a Service and Relationship Manager with extensive team support.

The role is full-time, Monday–Friday, with opportunities to influence service design, collaborate with Te Whatu Ora and PHOs, and champion peer values across the wider community.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading peer workforce teams in mental health.
  • Ability to work with Te Whatu Ora, PHOs and community sector.
  • Completed recognised Peer Support training and Level 4 Health/Wellbeing cert.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills.

Use your lived experience to inspirationally lead a new mental health acute care service based on a WHO recognised peer support model within Pathways.

As a leading mental health and addiction service in Aotearoa, we believe in the power of lived experience and the impact of the peer workforce. We have well established and effective peer workforce infrastructure which supports you in your mahi. Our collective mahi is to empower individuals to live full lives in their communities. We foster strong whānau connections. The service will be staffed by lived and living experience kaimahi who are trained to deliver inspiring peer services alongside other clinical kaimahi.

As a leader of the service you will support our kaimahi to use recovery tools, models, and practices to inspire resilience, hope, and wellbeing. The service will be delivered in partnership with other mental health and addiction providers and will be informed by a rights and values-based approach to care. You'll be reporting to a Service and Relationship Manager and working with the support of your extensive team.

We need an inspiring leader to join us as Team Coach - Peer. This is an opportunity to stamp your mark as a founding leader of a creative new service. Utilising the support and resources available, you will ensure the efficient and effective use of resources for the team. You will foster innovation and continuous improvement of service, ensuring it is exemplary in empowering and inspiring people towards recovery and wellbeing. You will provide regular coaching and be focused on inspiring support to every member of your team, helping them to exceed their personal best in everything they do.

This is a full-time role, working Monday - Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm.

We are interested to hear from experienced peer leaders who can support and inspire a team and ensure their practice always reflects peer values. As well as having great leadership and people skills, you will have demonstrated ability to work well with other services such as Te Whatu Ora, PHOs and the wider community sector. You will thrive on the challenge of helping set-up and establish a new team in an innovative new service.

  • A working knowledge of the peer workforce competencies and have completed recognised Peer Support training
  • Completed Level 4 certificate in Health and Wellbeing or equivalency
  • Able to speak to your lived and living experience and journey to wellbeing
  • Experience and a qualification in health, management or a related clinical discipline is also welcomed
  • Proven networking skills
  • Ability to develop and sustain a high performing team
