Job summary

Ka Puta Ka Ora Emerge Aotearoa is seeking a full-time Peer Support Worker to join the EaseUp Youth Service in Henderson. You will use your lived experience to build authentic relationships with rangatahi and support their wellbeing goals through flexible, community-based sessions.

You will work with clinicians in a strengths-based approach, maintain clear documentation, and support safe service delivery. Requirements: two years’ experience with youth mental health/addictions and First Aid CPR.

Qualifications

  • Lived experience of mental health and/or AOD recovery, and willingness to include this in your cover letter.
  • NZ Certificate in Health & Wellbeing Level 4 (or equivalent), or commitment to obtaining the minimum qualification within required timeframe.
  • Two years’ experience working in mental health, addictions, and with youth.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to culturally responsive practice and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Must hold and maintain First Aid certification including CPR (or be willing and able to complete this).

We are looking for a full-time Peer Support Worker to join our EaseUp Youth Service based in Henderson. EaseUp provides free, community-based mental health and AOD support to rangatahi (young people), delivered in ways and places that feel comfortable, including one-off sessions, ongoing support, and group wellbeing programmes.


In this role, you will:



  • Use your lived experience to build authentic, respectful relationships with rangatahi

  • Support rangatahi to identify and work towards their wellbeing goals

  • Provide flexible, community-based support tailored to individual needs

  • Work alongside Clinicians to deliver a holistic, strengths-based support approach

  • Share lived experience appropriately to inspire hope and connection

  • Maintain clear documentation and contribute to safe, effective service delivery


You are passionate about supporting rangatahi and bring lived experience of mental health challenges and or AOD recovery, with a well-established recovery journey.


You will bring:



  • At least 2 years’ experience working in mental health and addictions, and with youth

  • Lived experience of mental health and or AOD recovery, with the ability to draw on this safely and purposefully (please include this in your cover letter)

  • NZ Certificate in Health & Wellbeing Level 4 (or equivalent), or a commitment towards obtaining the relevant minimum qualification within the required timeframe

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

  • A commitment to culturally responsive practice and Te Tiriti o Waitangi

  • Must hold and maintain First Aid certification including CPR (or be willing and able to complete this)
